Qualification/Registration Requirements

To qualify and become a registered voter in Florida, you must:

• Be a citizen of the United States of America.
• Be a Florida resident.
• Be 18 years old (you may pre-register if you are 17 or if you have been issued a driver’s license before your 17th birthday.
• Not be or have been adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting unless you have had your voting rights subsequently restored.
• Not be or have been convicted of a felony unless your civil rights have been subsequently restored.
• Register in accordance with the requirements of the Florida Election Code.

Book Closing/Registration Deadline.

In order to vote in an upcoming election, you must be registered before the registration books are closed for the respective election. The registration deadline for an election in Florida is 29 days before the election. If you are submitting a new registration application, your registration date will be the date that your completed application is postmarked or hand-delivered to the office of any Supervisor of Elections, the Division of Elections, a driver’s license office, a voter registration agency, or an armed forces recruitment office. If your application is complete and you are qualified as a voter, the Supervisor of Elections for your respective county of residence will send you a voter information card. This card will serve as official notification of your registration. If you do not receive your card within three weeks, or if you have any questions regarding your registration, please call your county Supervisor of Elections: (813) 272-5850.

Instructions for Completion of A Voter Registration Application.
 
Please follow these instructions to complete your online PDF application:

• Fill in the application online and print (you can not save this information online), or print a blank application and then write in the information. Please use a black ball point pen.
• Be sure to complete all the required fields including providing either a current and valid Florida driver’s license number (FL DL#) or Florida identification card number (FL ID #), or if you do not have a FL DL # or FL ID card #, the last four digits of your social security number (SSN). If you do not have a FL DL#, FL ID card#, or SSN, you must write “NONE” in the box.
• If you wish to register with any political party, check the appropriate box on the voter registration application. The names of the two major political parties are listed on the application. To register with a minor political party you must write-in the name of the party.If you do not want to register with any political party, you would place a checkmark in the box next to “None” on the application.
• Verify all information on your application.
• Sign your application. THE FLORIDA VOTER REGISTRATION APPLICATION REQUIRES AN ORIGINAL SIGNATURE TO BE SUBMITTED.

After completing the Voter Registration Application, it can be mailed or delivered to the Supervisor of Elections Office. A Voter Information Card will be mailed to the applicant approximately three weeks after the application is processed.
