Welcome to the home page of the Hillsborough County Republican Party (HCRP)
Hi! My name is Art Wood. I had the great honor and good fortune to be elected Chairman on Tuesday, November 15th. Our Chairwoman for the past three years, Deborah Cox-Roush, recently resigned to bring her talents to the Herman Cain campaign. We thank her for many years of service, wish her well, and know that he has gained a great campaigner. I want to thank the three great Republicans that were also in the race for Chairman. Their presence in the race took everyone to the next level. Now we will close ranks and get about the business of a Republican victory in 2012.
2012 will be an exciting year in Hillsborough County. Our Presidential Preference Primary will be held on January 31st. At some point in the first part of the year, redistricting will surely change the boundaries of many districts. One of the two new districts for Florida could well go in Central Florida and thereby affect our County. Of course in August the event of a lifetime will occur in Tampa: the Republican National Convention. Throngs of delegates and news media will allow us to showcase our Republican principles in our beautiful city of Tampa. Then on November 6th, we will have the opportunity to put a Republican back in the White House!
You are reading this page at a great time to begin or expand your stake in the future of our country. I urge you to volunteer in one of the many campaigns going on right now in Hillsborough County. Besides the Presidential race, there is a contest for the US Senate seat occupied by Bill Nelson, a Congressional race for the seat currently held by Kathy Castor, county seats, and several county commission races. You should volunteer with the candidate that best fits your values. You could also join one of many Republican Clubs located conveniently around Hillsborough County. Go the “Calendar” tab on the top of this page to see the dates of their meeting and contact information. Scroll through the month to see all the clubs.
I also invite you to join the county party which we call the Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee (HC REC). This is actually our home page as well since the HCRP is synonymous with the HC REC. We use both names interchangeably. When you join you become responsible for the success of your home precinct. You'll have training available to you to learn how to do this important task. Many Republicans participate all three ways: campaigns, clubs, and the HC REC.
Get started by coming to one of the monthly meetings of the HC REC/HCRP. We normally meet on the third Tuesday. Look around this page for information on this month's meeting, our meeting location, and the phone number of our headquarters. If in doubt, please call our headquarters.
We believe what we are doing can change the world, starting right here in Hillsborough County. I invite you to be a part of our experience.
